    The Eureka Centre is located in East Ballarat adjacent to what is considered to be the site of one of the most significant events in the evolution of Australian democracy - the Eureka Rebellion.

    As well as being one of Victoria's popular tourist destinations, The Centre provides a national focus for debate about, and interpretation of, the Eureka story.

  • Eureka Centre Update

    Celebration - Eureka 155

    The Eureka Centre's Exhibition, Shop and Cafe will be closed from Monday, 30 August, however the Ballarat Visitor Information Centre will continue to operate at the Centre until it moves to its new temporary location in Lydiard Street North in October.

    The Eureka Education Program will move to the Art Gallery of Ballarat for the duration of the redevelopment, please call 5320 5858 with any enquiries.

  • Redevelopment 2009-11

    Future

    Construction of Stage Two of the Eureka Centre will begin before the end of the year. Council has received $10 million in grants from the State and Federal governments to fund the redevelopment of the existing centre. The Eureka Centre will be renamed the Australian Centre for Democracy at Eureka, and will tell the story of the 1854 Eureka uprising.

    The Eureka Centre will feature innovative and cutting edge exhibits and installations which will be specially designed to tell the Eureka story in an engaging way.
